This painting is inspired by the raw cobblestone streets and rich historic architecture on king st.
I particularly feel inspired and called to 492 king St. Which was the first restaurant I ate at when I moved to Charleston. I remember running my hands on the concrete outside of the restaurant and staring at each little crack and grove in the interior walls while eating one of the most delicious meals I have ever ate.
Recently while skating down king st. I stopped right outside of where that restaurant used to be and felt deep nostalgic inspiration to paint each crack and texture I felt on that unique building. I came home and tried to emulate the textures I felt on the exterior and interior of the 1830s building and hope to inspire touch and connection with architecture by comparing the feeling of the texture on this painting to the real 492 king st.
